Small Businesses Matter

When we think of small businesses, we usually think of retail, especially around the holiday sales season. But service businesses, including wellness practitioners, are small businesses too. As such, we can and should participate in Small Business Saturday. Our local communities know that there are some things small businesses offer that big business and large corporations just can’t feasibly do.

  • Individual Attention. You absolutely know each and every customer’s name and individual needs. And they know you.
  • Access to the Expert. You are the local expert in your field. Your customers have direct access to a world of health care that even their primary doctors may not.
  • Immediate Customer Service. You don’t need to talk to a corporate office to ask what can be done for a particular customer. You are the decision-maker.
  • Unique Products. If you sell wellness products in your practice, they are usually not the same things that customers can pick up at a big-box store. Your products are hard to find and make customer’s feel special and unique.

Promote Your Small Business This Weekend

Connect with Existing Customers. Offer deals, incentives, and holiday specials. Plan events like a holiday open house. Remind customers of those items above that make your business special.

Connect with New Customers. Create social media images and posts about your business. Ask current customers and followers to share your posts with friends and family. Offer new customer deals on social media and on your website.

Take advantage of this trend by advertising that you are a small business and you are open for sales (even if you are not open for services) this Saturday. American Express (that’s who started Small Business Saturday) even offers free promotional tools to help you: posters, flyers, email templates, social media images, and badges for your website (the images in this article are examples). Check out ShopSmall.com for the details.

We Are a Small Business Too

Sohnen-Moe Associates is a small business. We are one of the only self-publishers providing quality textbooks for wellness programs. We don’t have warehouses full of books from all walks of life, we focus on what we know. We deal directly with wellness-related school owners and instructors, and we know their names. We listen to educator needs and we make appropriate changes to our products in order to serve them.

We know the wellness industry because every one of us at SMA is an educator, and we are or have been wellness practitioners. We try to provide tools and advice for your success because we’ve been there and we care about you. And like you, we care about changing the world one healthy and effective treatment at a time.

Thank you for your support of our mission, and thank you for pursuing your own mission. Please, continue to let us know how we can serve you and your practice.

Happy Holidays!
